Germany’s fastest-growing children’s magazine publisher

Blue Ocean Entertainment AG (BOE) is one of the world's leading providers of children's media products. Founded in 2005 as a publishing start-up in Stuttgart, the company has been majority-owned by Hubert Burda Media since 2014. BOE publishes around 90 regular magazines about well-known brands such as LEGO, Princess Lillifee, Miraculous, Bibi & Tina, Playmobil, Jurassic World and Schleich as well as numerous digital offerings in its German-speaking core market alone. If the publications of the foreign subsidiaries are included, BOE now publishes well over 1,000 issues a year.

Stickers, trading card games, wonder bags, 3D collector's series such as LissyPonys and loyalty programmes for retailers round off the portfolio. More than 300 permanent employees now work for the Blue Ocean Entertainment Group at its seven European locations in Stuttgart, Kehl, Wroclaw, Madrid, Lisbon, Arezzo and Turin.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, BOE is by far the market leader in the children's and youth magazine segment. Blue Ocean's entire portfolio generates more retail sales than all of its competitors' magazine titles combined. 20 of the 30 best-selling children's magazines in German retail come from the Burda Group's children's media specialist, including the complete seven TOP 10 titles, namely LEGO Ninjago, Lissy PONY, Prinzessin Lillifee Zauberwelt, Prinzessin Lillifee, LEGO Ninjago Legacy, LEGO Minecraft and Mia and me (IVW 4/2024).
