Hubert Burda Media is one of the largest media companies in Germany. As a global player with numerous subsidiaries and international brands, Hubert Burda Media operates worldwide.

The foreign activities of the group are bundled in the division BurdaInternational. Important markets are Great Britain, Central and Eastern Europe as well as Asia. Burda is active in 17 countries and publishes around 340 titles outside of Germany, many of them are platforms with strong online and social media presences.

Immediate Media is an innovative media and platform company that publishes numerous renowned magazines in Great Britain, including Radio Times and BBC titles such as Good Food, Top Gear and Top of the Pops. Immediate Media has been growing steadily for years, both in traditional print and in the booming digital business. With the acquisition of the event specialists Upper Street Events and River Street Events, Immediate is continuing its strategy of focusing on special interest content and communities.

Burda Create! bundles Burda's activities in the international crafting segment. Under the umbrella of Burda Create!, the following units will work closely together and continue to develop the business: Verlag Aenne Burda with the core brand Burda Style, whose products are available in 17 languages, the publisher Editions Dipa in Strasbourg, who is publishing several crafting brands in seven European markets, the unit BurdaNordic, with its specific expertise in the field of knitting publications as well as Toppatterns, who distributes sewing patterns from its location in Sweden.

Strong and independent national companies in six countries - from France to Russia - continue their transformation course within the Publishing Europe unit. This unit publishes magazines in the segments Women (Fashion & Style), Advisory, Food, Living, Garden, Men (Lifestyle, Cars, Computer), People, interactive magazines (readers write for readers) and crossword puzzles. In addition, several publishers license international titles such as Elle, Glamour and Harper's Bazaar.

The BurdaLuxury unit has a focus on the luxury segment. It’s portfolio comprises magazine brands such as Prestige and online platforms such as Lifestyleasia.com which are aimed at affluent and consumption-oriented sections of the population in Southeast Asia.

Hubert Burda Media's printing activities outside Europe, including a gravure printing plant in India, are managed by the unit BurdaEducation that serves the large market for textbooks and educational materials in developing and emerging countries.

Martin Weiss became a member of Burda's management board on August 1st 2017 where he took over responsibilities for the group’s international business from CEO Paul-Bernhard Kallen. Since June 2015, Weiss has been leading BurdaPrincipal Investments which invests in digital companies outside Germany (e.g. Etsy, Notonthehighstreet, Vinted, Showroom, Baublebar).

Prior to joining Hubert Burda Media, Weiss was a member of the executive team at international telecommunications and media company Milicom. There, he was in charge of the expansion and transformation of the company’s digital activities in Latin America, the US and Africa. Weiss was also founder and partner of the strategy consulting firm Solon heading its London office between 2008 and 2013.
