Hubert Burda Media encourages and helps its employees to support social projects close to their hearts. No project is too small, no idea too big. The wide range of skills within the Burda network make even the smallest project a big deal. Together, Burda and its employees stand up for socially relevant issues.
Our volunteering award honours employees who dedicate themselves to social projects and provides financial support for selected initiatives.
Staff members had great fun at the “Burda radelt” event on 21 and 22 July 2021.
This challenge first took place in 2020, when all HBM employees were invited to take part in “Kilometer für Kids” (Kilometres for Kids). More than 400 people from all of Burda’s German locations spent a day running over 4,300 kilometres for good causes. HBM doubled the total distance and made an equivalent donation to the Tribute to Bambi-Stiftung (Tribute to Bambi Foundation), which used the money to support organisations working throughout Germany to help children in need.
2021 was the year of “Burda radelt!” (Burda cycles). On 21 and 22 July, almost 400 people from all German locations raised money as they cycled kilometre after kilometre for the Tribute to Bambi-Stiftung (Tribute to Bambi Foundation) and children in need. Across the two days, they cycled an impressive 9,253 kilometres. Burda rounded up the total and donated EUR 10,000 to the Tribute to Bambi Foundation, which will pass on the whole amount to one of its funding organisations.

The third digital “eatbetter” day included fascinating talks on nutrition and the environment.
A healthy diet is crucial in preventing illness. Since autumn 2020, and as part of Burda’s mission to drive change, several digital “Eat Better” days have been held each year for all Burda employees. The “eatbetter” experts work with external experts and celebrity chefs to hold digital talks and live cooking sessions, providing scientifically proven tips and inspiration on healthy, sustainable eating.
