Burda is proud to announce the launch of BurdaGP, a new European gaming initiative developed by its investment arm Burda Principal Investments (BPI) in close cooperation with UnternehmerTUM Venture Labs.
Burda’s international growth capital provider, Burda Principal Investments (BPI), is participating in welevel’s Series A funding round. This marks BPI’s first investment under BurdaGP, Burda’s European gaming initiative launched in January.
Gaming is one of the most dynamic fields of innovation at the intersection of technology, entertainment and interactive media. Through BurdaGP, BPI combines Burda’s strength in digital content and platforms with the innovative power of UnternehmerTUM. Together, the partners aim to support the next generation of European gaming talent and strengthen Munich’s growing gaming ecosystem.
By investing in welevel, BPI is backing a young company building a particularly vibrant and adaptable game world that players can actively help shape. With its proprietary technology platform, welevel is able to deliver the visual and technical quality typically associated with much larger studios while maintaining the creative depth and flexibility of an independent team. This combination of technology and consumer engagement aligns closely with BPI’s overarching investment strategy.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Christian Heimerl, welevel is a Munich-based game studio currently developing SolidRiver, a co-op survival game that combines elements of city-building, RPG progression and open-world gameplay. With SolidRiver, welevel is tapping into one of the most dynamic and globally relevant genres in gaming while introducing a more adaptive and player-driven experience. A key part of this approach is user-generated content, one of the defining trends shaping how successful games are built and sustained today.
Alongside BPI, existing investor BITKRAFT Ventures is participating in the current Series A funding round, which is led by Transcend Fund.
