Burda Style, the Tribute to Bambi Foundation and Nebenan.de called for people to make baby sleeping bags. The "sewn with love" campaign produced 1,256 self-sewn sleeping bags for the "Babylotse" project.
Expansion of the brand portfolio: The internationally operating business unit Burda Create!, which focuses on crafting, has launched the brand "Burda Beginner". With a bookazine, e-magazine, video tutorials, an online shop and live events, the brand for sewing beginners offers a new approach to sewing for self-learning at home – or as a foundation for sewing courses. In addition to textile and sewing basics, Burda Beginner addresses topics such as sustainability and self-expression.
"With Burda Beginner, we are expanding our brand portfolio and thus reaching a whole new target group: people who have no previous sewing experience – but who want to express their creativity and individuality and are ready to learn something new. As the most successful brand in the DIY sector, Burda offers a new and inspiring approach to sewing with Burda Beginner."
Henning Röper, CEO Burda Create!
The first product to be launched as part of the Burda Beginner brand is the bookazine "Mein Nähkurs By Burda" (English: “My Sewing Course By Burda”). 80 pages filled with instructions and tips (plus four pages of sewing patterns) enable readers to learn how to sew without any previous knowledge. Step-by-step videos, which can be accessed online for each sewing project, make it even easier. Mein Nähkurs By Burda issues with a print run of 40,000 copies and can be purchased from April 27 for 14.90€ both in shops and via the online shop Meinnähkurs.de. An e-magazine version of Mein Nähkurs by Burda with downloadable sewing patterns is also available. Content Director Rashana Rebecca Jennings is responsible for the content. The bookazine Mein Nähkurs By Burda is also published as a licensed edition in eight other countries – France, the Netherlands, Spain, the UK, Italy, Russia, Poland and the Czech Republic. From August 1, Mein Nähkurs by Burda will also be published as a hardcover in bookshops, on Amazon and on Meinnähkurs.de with a print run of 5,000 copies.
The online shop Meinnähkurs.de does not only offer the bookazine Mein Nähkurs by Burda and the e-magazine but also sewing courses for beginners as well as sewing products. Furthermore, a platform for inspiration and exchange is being created on Instagram and Tiktok for the online community of sewing beginners (@burdabeginner). Brand events are also part of Burda Beginner’s presence: starting with the exclusive launch events taking place in the German cities Munich, Cologne and Stuttgart for the launch of the bookazine Mein Nähkurs by Burda.
