BurdaInternational, the global arm of media and tech company Hubert Burda Media, has announced three new key appointments in its Leadership Team effective January 1, 2024. Following the appointment of Martin Weese (COO of BurdaInternational) to Chief Digital Officer of BurdaVerlag, in January 2024, BurdaInternational CEO, Tom Bureau, has taken the opportunity to reshape his Leadership Team.
Simon Stilcken will join the Leadership Team and be appointed to the new position of Strategy and Operations Director of BurdaInternational. Reporting directly to Tom Bureau, Stilcken will lead the strategy team, developing and leading strategic programmes across the Group, as well as acting as a crucial link between global and local initiatives. As in his previous role as Head of Business Development and Strategy of BurdaInternational, he will continue working on Group-wide platform initiatives and lead commercial due diligence on international M&A projects. Simon will also take up a seat on the Supervisory Board of Cocolita, an online store in which BurdaInternational has acquired a majority stake in 2021.

Duncan Tickell will become Group Managing Director in conjunction with his Group role as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) with primary responsibility for the growth and development of the Czech business BurdaMedia Extra and the French business Burda Bleu. As CRO, Tickell will continue to focus on maximising revenues across all countries, emphasizing digital, advertising technology and a platform approach.

Jo Brandl will continue as Chief People Officer for BurdaInternational with a particular focus on organisational development across the Group. As a key sparring partner for each business unit’s CEO, she ensures that the right leadership and structures are in place to navigate change, complexity and drive a digital-first agenda.
