True responsibility goes beyond individual success—it’s about driving meaningful change in society. This team embodies the essence of journalistic responsibility, and for that, they were honored with the BurdaAward.
A shady spot in a beer garden or a refreshing dip in the Isar river: While the residents of Munich enjoyed summer 2016 to the full, four teams at the Burda Bootcamp “Summer School” developed digital business ideas.
Digital prototypes
12 IT and design students refined their own business ideas and digital prototypes for tech, fashion & lifestyle, and health & fitness. They received plenty of support from more than 20 mentors from Burda Digital, Cliqz, Cyberport and Burda Studios, as well as Google, UniCredit Bank and ACXIT Capital Partners.
And the Oscar goes to…
At the end of the two-week intensive programme, the project groups presented their work to an expert jury, who were ultimately won over by the Code Connect team. This three-person team developed a platform that brings together experienced programmers from the companies with programming newcomers to encourage exchange and mentoring.
The audience award went to Sofal – an e-commerce platform for fairly produced fashion. During the Summer School, the team put 3,000 items of clothing online and made their first sales. “I’m really proud of the team”, says Natalia Karbasova. “You can see how quickly new products can be tested by lean start-ups.”
Another Burda Bootcamp start-up event will be held in October, when several teams will pitch to a jury and audience. To register, visit this page.
