In a ceremony held in Berlin on Thursday, the Nebenan.de Foundation honoured 22 outstanding community projects that embody exceptional local engagement.
To celebrate the festive season, Burda hosted its first employee Christmas market in Munich last week, with over a thousand colleagues clinking glasses and mingling in the inner courtyard of Arabellastrasse.
To ward off the winter chill, fairylight-bedecked huts dispensed mulled wine and roasted almonds freely, a carol choir serenaded staff, and games like “test your strength” entertained the competitively-minded (and kept them warm).
For those with creative inclinations, the Burda staff cafeteria was transformed into a cosy winter lounge, complete with fireplaces and candles, where staff could fashion their own Advent wreaths and decorate large gingerbread houses.
Later on, the party moved to the company’s own Burda Bar, normally the home of mid-morning coffee meetings and lunchtime reads of the newspaper. For one night only, the venue was transformed into a cocktail bar and club, with lively conversation and dancing long into the night.
With such a successful debut, let’s hope the Christmas market returns to Munich in 2020!
