The Corona pandemic has hit all the Member States of the European Union hard – and yet it seems that the EU is losing its cohesion during the pandemic. As of 1 July 2020, Germany has held the EU Council Presidency amid a very difficult time for Europe. The German government has settled on “Gemeinsam. Europa wieder stark machen" — which translates into English as "Together. Making Europe strong again" — as its slogan for the country's presidency of the Council of the EU which will last for the next six months.
It’s an ideal occasion for Burda's international innovation platform DLD (Digital, Life, Design) to hold its first physical conference in Brussels after the Corona-related break. On September 7, 2020, DLD founder Steffi Czerny will gather politicians as well as representatives from business and media for the fifth time at DLD Europe to discuss the most important developments in Europe.
"There is hardly a more important time for DLD to go to Brussels, the heart of Europe. Germany has a crucial role to play in the coming months, as the EU must be reunited to overcome the crisis. Climate protection, digital sovereignty, Europe's role in the world - these topics amongst others will be discussed during DLD Europe."
Steffi Czerny, DLD founder
Covid-19 has forced DLD, like many other event platforms in recent months, to pause its physical event schedule, Czerny continued. "We have successfully launched our online format DLD Sync to keep the worldwide DLD community connected during the Corona crisis. But after many months of isolation, it is now important to leave the snail shell. We notice a great desire to connect in person again and, with our event, we want to provide food for thought and inspiration in uncertain times like these. I am therefore very pleased to be in Brussels for the fifth time on 7 September!
The conference will take place in a format adapted to the current conditions and in compliance with the required distance and hygiene regulations. Further information on speakers and the agenda will follow in the course of the next weeks.
