Burda's flagship conference DLD Munich is finally back live in the Bavarian capital after a two-year break due to Corona expecting about 700 participants and over 100 speakers for an exciting conference programme from 20-22 May 2022 in Munich's Gasteig. With the rapid changes in our world, we need the optimistic DLD perspective more than ever as new realities such as the energy crisis, climate change or the war in Ukraine are presenting us with new challenges forcing us to re-think. Under the motto "Reality Rules?!", Burda's DLD innovation conference aims to provide orientation and, with a top-class line-up from politics, science, industry, and technology, highlight opportunities in uncertain times.
"At DLD Munich, we focus on information and clarification in times driven by change. For many, the current global political situation is overwhelming and scary. That's why it's more important than ever to identify challenges and present opportunities that help us face these new realities."
Steffi Czerny, DLD Managing Director
From the boardroom of German DAX companies, Deutsche Bahn's head of digital Daniela Gerd tom Markotten, Christina Förster (Lufthansa) and Merck CEO Belén Garijo are expected to attend. They will mix with up-and-coming start-up founders who have already developed their companies to Unicorn status, such as Personio co-founder and CEO Hanno Renner, GoStudents founder and CEO Felix Ohswald, and Romain Moulin, co-founder and CEO of the French robotics start-up Exotec. DLD All Stars such as best-selling author Andrew McAfee and investor Jim Breyer are also expected on stage at DLD Munich 22.
"DLD has a reputation for bringing the stars of tomorrow on stage because they are the ones who will change the world and surprise us with groundbreaking innovations. This year, we will be presenting more of these "hidden champions" who will soon be the new superstars of the scene, and our curated audience will drive discussions of DLD Munich 22 topics beyond the stage."
Steffi Czerny, DLD Managing Director
DLD is bringing Israeli neuroscientist Moran Cerf and Will Marshall of Planet Labs, which uses satellite imagery to visually reveal changes in the world, to Munich for the conference. Also attending are Philipp Furler, who specialises in generating CO2-neutral fuel from light and solar energy with his company Synhelion, and Marvel Fusion COO Heike Freund. Marvel Fusion wants to use fusion energy to develop a CO2-free energy solution as a decisive contribution to the global energy transition.
The German Federal Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger and the Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UFPA) Natalia Kanem will also share their political views on the world. Among other things, the fund advocates for equal opportunities and calls for joint action against technology-enabled gender-based violence. Lady Gaga's former music manager Troy Carter, who is revolutionising the industry by empowering artists through data analytics, will also be presenting at DLD Munich 22. And the Syrian Omar Mohammed shows how war reporting can be improved with his work against fake news.
