Don't complain, act!

Even though much of the digitalization process currently seems to be going in the wrong direction, complaining doesn’t help us as a society. Anyone who wants a better future must help to shape it. Positive alternatives are needed! This is is exactly what the DLD conference in Munich in January promises with women such as Joanna Shields, CEO of BenevolentAI, who is revolutionizing medicine with artificial intelligence, or Fatoumata Ba, whose company Janngo is setting up a start-up ecosystem for Africa.

New location

DLD (Digital, Life, Design), Hubert Burda Media's major European innovation conference, invites the international digital elite to the 15th DLD Conference in Munich from 19-21 January. Along this year’s theme "Optimism & Courage", about 150 international speakers and up to 1500 participants are expected at a new location: The Alte Kongresshalle (Old Congress Hall) on Munich's Schwanthalerhöhe will be the venue for the DLD conference in 2019.

Optimism & Courage

After last year’s motto “reconquer!”, there is a clear message behind the upcoming conference in 2019 as well.

“Optimism & Courage is the motto for DLD Munich, because I am convinced that digitalization offers us all great opportunities. We need courage and optimism to seize these opportunities, but also to meet the challenges. At DLD Munich, we want to look ahead and shape the future positively."

Steffi Czerny, DLD founder

German Leadership at DLD

BMW boss Harald Krüger celebrates his DLD premiere: In January he will be expected at DLD for the first time discussing with Wired UK editor-in-chief Greg Williams on stage. Deutsche Post CEO Frank Appel, Deutsche Telekom CEO Claudia Nemat, Telefónica CEO Markus Haas and Wirecard CEO Markus Braun represent the DAX board at DLD Munich 19. Grazia Vittadini (Airbus-CTO), ProSiebenSat.1 Media CEO Max Conze, Otto CDO Sebastian Klauke and TÜV Süd CEO Axel Stepken will also be represented on the DLD stage.

Global network

DLD has created a unique ecosystem that sustainably connects participants beyond conferences and national borders. While the team around Steffi Czerny is constantly discovering up-and-coming newcomers and giving space to new future topics, many leading minds in the digital industry are once again finding their way back to the DLD stage. Amongst them areAlbert Wenger (Union Square Ventures), Werner Vogels (Amazon), Oliver Samwer (European Founders Fund), Chris Boos (arago) and Scott Galloway (L2 Inc.).

In addition to entrepreneurs from the USA, Europe and Israel, delegations from China, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Southeast Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa will bring an international flair to DLD Munich.
