Burda's historical treasure trove is hidden in the basement of the building in the Arabellastreet. Sabrina Maier and Martin Amling are the guardians of the company's archives. Their most important tool? A scanner.
“My children Elisabeth and Jacob want to play a role as active shareholders at Burda in the future. I am very happy about this and I am proud of them” – with this announcement, Publisher Hubert Burda opened the Burda summer party at the Munich location on Thursday evening. The three company owners attended the party together, with Elisabeth Burda-Furtwängler and Jacob Burda standing side by side next to their father. The family's opening speech was repeatedly interrupted by applause from the 1,300 Burda colleagues present in Munich.
Elisabeth Burda-Furtwängler emphasised how much she was looking forward to her new, more active role as a shareholder. “I want to grow into this role," she said. In the coming weeks and months, she wants to have many conversations with Burda colleagues to get to know the people "who create our products and do what we call Burda Media even better". Elisabeth Burda-Furtwängler has already moved into an office on the 7th floor. “You can count on me, and you can count on the family!”, said the young shareholder.
Elisabeth Burda-Furtwängler and Jacob Burda have been Members of Burda's Board of Directors, chaired by Paul-Bernhard Kallen, since 2017. Together with the Executive Board, it forms the Burda Group’s highest decision-making body. Together with their father, Publisher Hubert Burda, they hold all shares in the company.
At the end of their speech, the family sang a song together that unites all generations at Burda: the Badnerlied, which Senator Franz Burda liked to sign frequently.
