Getting off to a sunny start

None

In 2012, career platform Xing’s CEO Thomas Vollmoeller announced the company’s aim to double its annual turnover by 2016. His team got down to work with great commitment, pulled out all the stops, and was successful. As a reward, Vollmoeller took everyone to Majorca for this year’s kick-off session to keep a promise he made last year. The Majorca event is different from a normal company outing: It includes a structured schedule and a varied program of activities.

“This event is definitely the highlight of the past 13 years at Xing and a way of saying thank you to the entire team”,

said Xenia Meuser, vice president of human resources.

TED talks, workshops and a visit from Stefan Winners

The three days in Majorca are packed with workshops to be used for the teams’ individual kick-off events. A variety of TED talks, where the different business units present their work, take place in the afternoon.

Xing board member Stefan Winners’ visit is met with great interest. He not only answers questions on his views on Xing but also those relating to himself in a Q&A session.

In the evenings, there is plenty of opportunity to socialize in Majorca: The team looks back on the past few days, letting the day draw to a close in a relaxed atmosphere at the dinner table. New board member Alistair Bruce also took the opportunity to introduce himself at the event.

Networking in Majorca

“We also use these days for networking in the spirit of Xing. The kick-off event in Majorca gives all colleagues who have only talked to each other via video links so far the chance to finally meet up in person”, Meuser explains. Where next year’s kick-off event will take place has not been decided yet.
