The September issue of German Harper’s Bazaar is published today with Rihanna as the cover model. Her front cover and extensive fashion shoot can be seen in all 26 international editions of Harper’s Bazaar.
In an exclusive co-production with Harper’s Bazaar Russia, the April issue of the German fashion magazine will include a fashion shoot with Yulia Navalnaya, wife of Kremlin critic Alexey Navalny.
Editor-in-chief Kerstin Schneider is proud to present her readers these striking images of a courageous and beautiful woman.
“Fashion promotes change. So we jumped at the chance to do a fashion shoot with Yulia Navalnaya. We hesitated for a moment, but only because events developed swiftly. We held the shoot on her final days in Germany, and nobody could say what would happen when she returned to Moscow. But our decision was clear. Harper’s Bazaar has always considered fashion to be a cultural asset. Dialogue and conflict are deeply entwined in the fashion system.”

Fashion editor Kai Margrander managed the photo shoot, which took place in December 2020. He describes the experience of working with Yulia Navalnaya:
“We met Yulia in a very small studio in Offenburg. She delighted me from the moment we met. She is a natural beauty with a very powerful energy, also tremendously friendly, nice and humble. It was a pleasure to work with her. She was so passionate about the project. She had no problem standing outside in the icy German rain, wearing a summer dress from Alexander McQueen. I’m really happy with the pictures and wish her all the best for the future.”

The photos will be published on 3 March 2021 along with an exclusive interview by Daria Veledeeva, editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Russia.
