The current September issue of Harper's Bazaar is dedicated nationally and internationally to the cover topic "Icons under 30" and portrays young, strong characters who impress with their resumes.
Harper’s Bazaar has bagged three major awards already this year, winning the “Magazine of the Year”, “Cover Concept” and “Design” categories at the European Publishing Awards.
The jury explained their decision: “A long-established fashion magazine, Harper’s Bazaar is one of the world’s most prestigious titles. Hubert Burda Media launched the brand in 2013, claiming a success in Germany’s highly competitive women’s magazine segment. The German edition has a classic design with a contemporary twist. High-class covers and extraordinary photography add to its superior feel, exuding an impression of elegance and the avant-garde.”
The award ceremony was postponed on account of the pandemic and will now form part of the European Publishing Congress in Vienna on 4 – 6 October 2020.
The latest figures from the German Audit Bureau of Circulation (IVW) bring more great news for Harper’s Bazaar, which has increased its numbers in all relevant categories. It sells 55,647 magazines overall and racks up 36,721 copies in hard currency, that is retail sales plus subscriptions (retail: 12,069, up 15.7%; subscriptions: 24,652, up 7.4%; source IVW l/20).
The brand is also developing well in the digital world. harpersbazaar.de is one of the most-visited luxury fashion portals and received 2.8 million visits in March – an increase of 65% on the previous year (IVW online 4/2020).
Harper’s Bazaar has been published since autumn 2013 in a joint venture between Hubert Burda Media and Hearst Magazines International under the management of BurdaStyle CEO Manuela Kampp-Wirtz and editor-in-chief Kerstin Schneider.
