Hazel Brugger receives BAMBI award for humour with attitude

None

Four years ago, in her third stage show, she asked the question: “Do you know this woman?” Today, there is only one answer: Yes! Hazel Brugger inspires millions of people with her unmistakable humour, quick wit and social engagement. She shows that true comedy comes from within – through personality, dedication and authenticity. The BAMBI 2025 Award in the Comedy category goes to an artist who is much more than a brilliant entertainer.

At the age of 17, she won the Swiss Poetry Slam Championships, laying the foundation for her impressive career. She took to the big stage for the first time in 2015 with her first solo programme, “Hazel Brugger passiert” (“Hazel Brugger Happens”), and has found her home there ever since. Whether on “heute-show”, “LOL: Last One Laughing”, “Joko & Klaas gegen ProSieben” or as the host of the Eurovision Song Contest – Hazel Brugger has long established herself as one of the most important voices in German-language comedy. With her unique blend of intellect, wit and charm, Hazel Brugger has taken the comedy genre to a new level. Her performances are not only entertaining but also thought-provoking.

"Hazel Brugger highlights social injustices – sexism, racism, the absurdities of our time – and manages to build bridges instead of deepening divides. Her intelligent, dry humour opens up room for conversation about topics that otherwise too often remain unspoken. With Hazel Brugger, BAMBI is honouring an artist who shows that comedy can be much more than entertainment – it can convey attitudes, help shape society and serve as a role model."

With her astute observations and pointed comments, Hazel Brugger also highlights the pressing issues of our time that affect us all in her new programme “Immer noch wach” (“Still Awake”). Her performances are characterised by deep empathy for others, and an unshakeable belief that humour can be a force for change. In her programmes and formats such as “Deutschland Was Geht” (“Germany What's Up”) and “Europa Was Geht” (“Europe What's Up”), she repeatedly shows how important it is to seek dialogue and understand different perspectives. In doing so, she succeeds in communicating even complex and difficult topics in a way that is both accessible and profound – without losing any depth or seriousness. Hazel Brugger represents a new generation of artists who are aware of their responsibility and actively live it.

The BAMBI Awards ceremony will be streamed live from Bavaria Studios on November 13, 2025, at 8:15 p.m. The live broadcast ist available free of charge on Prime Video for the first time. All Amazon customers can stream BAMBI without a Prime membership.
