DLD announces a new conference: "DLD Capital Nature" will bring together experts from business, science, and technology on September 12 and 13 in Munich.
"The loss of biodiversity is perhaps the most pressing issue facing our global society and our future well-being," says DLD founder Steffi Czerny. "We have much more to gain as human beings if we stop living at the expense of nature and instead invest in it.”
Until now, the loss of biodiversity has often been lamented. However, inventors, developers, researchers, and decision-makers rarely come together to present solutions to this pressing problem. On September 12 and 13, DLD, Europe's largest innovation conference, will bring together leading minds from business, science, and technology to show how biodiversity loss can be stopped and why investing in biodiversity is a smart investment in our future.
DLD founder Steffi Czerny organises the conference together with co-hosts Maria Furtwängler (Founder and Board Member of the MaLisa Foundation), Eckart von Hirschhausen (Foundation Gesunde Erde – Gesunde Menschen) and Helmut Schönenberger (UnternehmerTUM). The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will be the keynote speaker.
At the heart of the conference programme is the idea that biodiversity conservation and a thriving economy need not be mutually exclusive. On the contrary, the better off the planet is, the better our prospects for a prosperous future. Examples include the expansion of regenerative agriculture, sustainable financial services, and innovative technological solutions that help us better understand nature, such as sensor technology, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
"Without intact ecosystems and their services, human well-being declines worldwide. Biodiversity is a topic that concerns us all, whether we are a DAX executive or a small-scale farmer. This issue needs to be brought more into the spotlight."
Maria Furtwängler, Founder and Board Member of the MaLisa Foundation
"Start-ups in particular can provide quick and pragmatic solutions to the loss of biodiversity. For start-ups to grow, they need a vibrant ecosystem like that of UnternehmerTUM, consisting of science, politics, established companies, and capital. At the same time, they need a stage like DLD to make innovative solutions and ideas visible."
Helmut Schönenberger, CEO of UnternehmerTUM in Munich
With DLD Capital Nature, DLD is focusing on a topic whose relevance extends far beyond Biodiversity Day on May 22. Species protection and climate protection go hand in hand. Both cannot be postponed and require economic incentives to promote innovation.
More information on the speaker line-up and the DLD Capital Nature programme will be announced in July.
