BAMBI has been attracting stars and idols for 75 years, combining glamour and unpretentiousness like no other media award. Many people have been several times. But this was my first. I was swept up in the excitement.
Ice-blue eyes, chiseled features, an unmistakable charisma: Mads Mikkelsen is regarded as the quintessential character actor. His path initially took him to a rather different stage as a professional dancer in a Danish company before he found his true passion: acting. Today, Mads Mikkelsen, who has always remained true to himself, is one of Hollywood's great actors.
For his excellence as an actor, his dedication to all his roles and his lasting influence on the film industry, Mads Mikkelsen receives the BAMBI in the category "Acting International":
"Mads Mikkelsen impresses not only with his versatility as an actor, but also with his consistency and dedication to his craft. His ability to transform himself again and again into a wide variety of roles is a testament to his extraordinary talent and his deep passion for the art of acting."

At the beginning of his acting career in the 90s, he first made a name for himself in Danish productions. His encounter with director Nicholas Winding Refn changed his still young career forever: landing the lead role in the film "Pusher" catapulted the previously unknown actor to international fame overnight.
He went on to demonstrate his acting talent in films such as "King Arthur", alongside Clive Owen and Keira Knightley putting him in the same league as the big stars. In "James Bond 007: Casino Royal", he played the villain Le Chiffre and rose to star status as Daniel Craig's counterpart. As Igor Stravinski, he played the leading role in the Coco Chanel biopic "Coco & Igor" and starred as Hannibal Lecter in the TV series "Hannibal".
No two roles are the same. With his versatility, his authentic acting, and his approachability, he plays his way into the hearts of audiences and filmmakers alike. In 2021, Mads Mikkelsen shone in Thomas Vinterberg's "Intoxication". He won international acclaim for his role as a high school teacher with a mid-life crisis who, along with three friends, embarks on alcohol experiments that get completely out of hand.
Away from the big screen, Mads Mikkelsen is a family man with strong ties to home. He lives a down-to-earth life with his wife Hanne Jacobsen and their two children in his native Copenhagen.
