With its latest issue in Germany, Burda Style is putting even greater focus on the topic sustainability with support of blogger Marie Nasemann, and at the same time launching a new sustainability column.
Every day, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases rises. To help slow its spread, many choose to stay home under self-quarantine, only venturing out to attend to their very most essential needs. Protecting oneself (and others) from this new virus with medical face masks seems nearly impossible, as they have become a scarce commodity and should be reserved for those who need them most urgently.
Although the effectiveness of self-made masks generates controversial discussions among experts, wearing a face mask can send an important message: A gesture of courtesy, commitment, and above all – social responsibility. For this reason, the creative brand Burda Style is now making available two free do-it-yourself sewing instructions for breathing masks. Beyond reaching out to its large European sewing community, Burda Style is making the helpful instructions available to all German publishers.
Due to the high quality and easy to follow step-by-step instructions, even inexperienced sewing beginners can create their very own personalized face masks. In addition to two different styles, there are detailed instructions to adapt sizes for adults, children and even babies. The use of a sewing machine is recommended, but not required.
Make your mark and sew your own, individualized face mask!
Attention: This do-it-yourself face mask has no certification, nor has it undergone testing to verify its effectiveness. The use of the mask is therefore at your own risk.
