Office opening in Berlin and two new hires

None

With an international team of investment experts, BurdaPrincipal Investments (BPI), the growth capital arm of Hubert Burda Media, has been operating out of three offices in Munich, London, and Singapore so far. Now, BPI has opened a new office space in Germany's capital Berlin which will be home to five investment experts. On May 1, 2021, BPI moved into its new premises at Heiligegeistkirchplatz in Berlin, the same building where Burda's content marketing agency C3 has its German headquarters.

"As our investments focus on consumer tech and we have quite a few portfolio companies based in Berlin, we decided to increase our presence in the German capital to engage more deeply with the ecosystem there. I am delighted about our new, central premises and looking forward to sharing the same building with our colleagues from C3."

Laura Möller and Julian von Eckartsberg join BPI

Burda’s international team of investment experts also welcomes two new hires: Starting as Managing Director Europe, Julian von Eckartsberg (36) will join Burda’s management team from October 2021 onwards and focus on the DACH region. He comes from ProSiebenSat.1, where he was most recently CEO of Stylight, a search engine for fashion and lifestyle. Prior to that, Eckartsberg, who joined ProSiebenSat.1 in 2015, was Head of Strategy for the Group and worked on strategic projects for Digital Ventures & Commerce. Before joining ProSiebenSat.1, he was an entrepreneur himself and sold his startup after founding and building it up. The business graduate started his career at Solon Management Consulting.

Laura Möller (32) joined BurdaPrincipal Investments on June 15th, 2021 as Investment Manager, becoming part of the Berlin team. Previously, she gained broad VC experiences at IBB Ventures, one of Germany’s most active funds where she built a high-potential portfolio which she actively supported while each company matured from the seed stage. Laura served on various boards, most notably remerge, Dalia Research and CareerFoundry and led multiple financing rounds. Before doubling down on her passion for startups and venture capital she gained experiences in banking at Deutsche Kreditbank, consulting at Rambøll and corporate innovation at Philips Consumer Lifestyle. As a student she founded a food startup. Laura holds a master’s degree in European Studies from FU Berlin, HU Berlin and TU Berlin; in addition to her Bachelor in International Business and Management Studies.

“I’m thrilled about our new hires as they will help us increase our investment activities in Germany and Europe. Julian brings a wealth of operational experience to BPI as the Ex-CEO of Stylight while Laura is very well connected in Berlin’s start-up and investment scene.“
