Burda’s business network Xing is setting up a new office in the Portuguese city of Porto. Initially, about 20 staff members will be involved in software development there from October 2017. Porto is the second Xing location outside the German-speaking world, following the Spanish development facility in Barcelona, where more than 50 staff members have been working successfully on digital e-recruiting products since 2011.

“A very dynamic and performance-oriented tech scene has been developing at the Porto location in recent years. The location is booming due to the universities and the many talented young international people. As we have already had very positive experiences with our development facility in Barcelona, we consider Porto the right location to increase the scalability of our technical infrastructure even further. Our customers will benefit from this most of all, and it is also an important aspect for continuing our growth strategy.”

Jens Pape, CTO of Xing

Heading for growth

According to Pape, the number of staff members at the Porto location is to increase rapidly, in order for Xing to become established there in the long term. Miguel Garcia, a well-known member of the Portuguese tech scene, will promote further development and growth at the new location as general manager. To begin with, Xing will move into premises at UPTEC, the Science and Technology Park of University of Porto.
