Reorganisation of Burda’s E-Commerce Division

None

Burda's e-commerce specialist BurdaCommerce is reorganising. Maik Friedrich as COO and Stefan Köhler as CFO will take over the management of Cyberport SE including its subsidiary and sister companies with immediate effect. For the time being, Marc Al-Hames will assume the role of CEO within the company as the responsible member of the Burda Management Board until this position is permanently filled.

Stefan Köhler, CFO of Cyberport SE since March 1, 2024, is an expert in retail and digital sectors. Over the past ten years, he has held senior positions at companies such as the Schwarz Group and Metro AG. Most recently, Stefan Köhler was CFO of the online perfumery Flaconi.

Maik Friedrich was already Managing Director of Computeruniverse GmbH from 2014 to 2023 and therefore brings a wealth of experience in the consumer electronics industry to the board.

We firmly believe that the e-commerce market, despite its current challenges, offers us great long-term opportunities. The ongoing merger of our strong brands Computeruniverse and Cyberport is already generating numerous synergies, which we will continue to develop systematically.

Marc Al-Hames, Member of the Burda Management Board

As a result of the difficult market situation and as part of the realignment, the organisation will reduce costs over the coming months and is now embarking on a restructuring process. This will involve the departure of Managing Directors René Bittner, László Kovacs, Jens Lippert, Franziska Pyttel and Andreas Wilhelm.

As part of the restructuring of the organisation, we have also significantly streamlined the Management Board. Unfortunately, we are losing not only valued, loyal and strong managers but also great people who have shaped the BurdaCommerce companies for many years. I would like to thank them all for their commitment and wish them all the best for the future.

Background:
Under the common umbrella of BurdaCommerce, Burda bundles its e-commerce investment Cyberport SE with the two brands Computeruniverse and Cyberport as well as its three subsidiaries: The logistics and shipping centre Cyberport Services GmbH, CP Retail GmbH, which comprises all Cyberport stores in Germany and Austria, and Cyberport IT-Services GmbH, which offers B2B services. Hubert Burda Media has held a stake in Cyberport since 1999 and acquired the majority of shares in 2000. Burda has been the sole owner of Cyberport SE since 2017. BurdaCommerce also includes the technology service provider Cybersolutions GmbH and the online retailer for premium wines Silkes Weinkeller GmbH.
