As DLD sits at the intersection of science, business, culture and politics, many aspects of the corona crisis are related to topics, experts and institutions in the DLD community which can inspire us to new solutions.
On 12 July, the second DLD Campus Conference will start in Bayreuth. Following last year's successful premiere, the University of Bayreuth will again host the regional DLD conference in 2018. "The University of Bayreuth is young and dynamic, where critical discourse has always had its home. In this respect, we are the ideal location for DLD Campus," says a delighted University President Stefan Leible.
"This is the second time we are going to Bayreuth with DLD Campus, as the city has a renowned university with an excellent international reputation. Especially in Germany, where small and medium-sized enterprises play such an important role and contribute to prosperity, we have to go to the regions and learn from the innovative power there.”
DLD founder Steffi Czerny
In addition to representatives of regional business such as Patrick Boos, Managing Director at Baur Versand, speakers from BMW, Klöckner and Téléfonica Deutschland are expected at the curated panels. Jimmy Cliff, Germany CEO for the Chinese bike-sharing company Mobike, will discuss the future of our cities and mobility on the DLD stage. Blogger and author Schlecky Silberstein has also announced himself for DLD Campus Bayreuth. He will settle accounts with the "manipulative Internet", which he also addresses in his current book "Das Internet muss weg!”. Israeli author Lizzie Doron ("Sweet Occupation") and Yifan David Li, CEO of the startup Hesai from Shanghai, who develops sensors for autonomous cars, will travel to Bayreuth from abroad for DLD Campus.
Dorothee Bär on the podium
The Minister of State for Digital Affairs is also present at DLD Campus in Bayreuth: "The digital revolution is creating a new relationship between city and country. Digital innovations offer small towns and rural areas the opportunity to balance out the conurbations," explains Dorothee Bär. She is pleased that DLD has recognized the signs of the times and that DLD Campus is now taking place for the second time in Bayreuth. "Digitalization beats urbanization," says Bär.
Like a Rocket Man
A very special highlight awaits the participants of DLD Campus Bayreuth. Richard Browning (Gravity Industries) is an inventor and entrepreneur. The so-called "Rocket Man" will take to the skies in his self-made jet suit on the Bayreuth university campus.
