Burda's sewing and handicraft brand Burda Style is cooperating with Vinted. The second-hand marketplace is a portfolio company of Burda´s international growth capital investor Burda Principal Investments.
Newborns are particularly exposed to the risk of sudden infant death syndrome in the first four months. Especially when sleeping with a blanket, there is a risk of the babies pulling it over their head or mouth and nose. Experts therefore advise putting children to sleep with a baby sleeping bag instead of a blanket to minimise this risk. Especially parents and families who are not adequately prepared for the birth of their babies are often not aware of such dangers. To support them, the sewing and handicrafts brand Burda Style is now launching the DIY Christmas campaign “mit Liebe genäht" (English: "Sewn With Love") together with Burda's neighbourhood platform Nebenan.de. The aim is to use the combined power of their communities to sew and donate as many baby sleeping bags as possible for the families in need.
Burda Style provides free sewing instructions
As part of the campaign, Burda's successful heritage brand Burda Style is offering a free sewing pattern and video instructions for baby sleeping bags, as well as free embroidery motifs to decorate them. The donated self-sewn sleeping bags will be passed on by the Tribute to Bambi Foundation, an initiative by Hubert Burda Media, to the "Babylotse" project, which will provide the families in need with the sleeping bags. "Babylotse" is a prevention programme for precautionary child protection and early health support of children. This year, the “Babylotse” are funding partners of the Tribute to Bambi Foundation and receive communicative and financial support for their activities.
"Sewn With Love" DIY box
The project is presented by the partner Pfaff (embroidery & sewing machines) and additionally supported by the partners Mettler (yarns), Schmetz (sewing needles) and C. Pauli (organic fabrics). In cooperation with C. Pauli, Burda Style has created a DIY box which – in addition to an organic certified fabric – contains all the material needed to sew a baby sleeping bag. The "Sewn With Love" DIY box, limited to 1,000 pieces, will be on sale from 3 November 2021 for €9.95. The proceeds of each box sold (minus shipping costs) will be doubled by the Publishing House Aenne Burda and donated to the Tribute to Bambi Foundation for the benefit of the "Babylotse" project.
