Sophie Grützner appointed editor-in-chief

Germany’s most successful fashion magazine has a new editor-in-chief. As of 1 February 2022, Sophie Grützner (41) takes charge of the Instyle brand. After many years as Instyle’s US correspondent, she is leaving New York for Munich. Sophie graduated from the German School of Journalism (DJS) and trained at Burda back in 2004. She has been writing for and editing newspapers and print/online magazines for more than 20 years. She replaces Kerstin Weng, who has been Instyle’s editor-in-chief since 2015 and leaves the company at the end of January.

Since 2013, Sophie Grützner has been Instyle’s US editor-at-large at Hubert Burda Media, Inc. in New York, where she was responsible for countless profiles, home features and interviews with international celebrities. She worked closely with top photographers, agencies and publicists and represented Instyle Germany at events, conferences and fashion weeks. In 2010 she developed the concept for Instyle Men, among many other things.

“We are delighted to have recruited Sophie Grützner, a talented face from among our own ranks. She has been responsible for many Instyle covers and lead stories and acted as a vital link with the editorial team in New York. Sophie has an excellent network in the fashion and lifestyle industry and will use her keen instinct for trends to continue the Instyle brand’s outstanding success. We would also like to express our gratitude to Kerstin Weng, who has had a significant impact on Instyle over the last six years with her many line extensions and products and has helped the brand to evolve successfully. We wish her all the best for the future.”
