With effect from 1 December 2022, Hubert Burda Media is reorganizing the top management tier at BurdaVerlag. The newly constituted triumvirate of equals at the helm of Germany’s largest magazine publisher will comprise Elisabeth Varn, Manuela Kampp-Wirtz and Oliver Eckert. Each member of this board will assume both the vertical responsibility for individual product segments and the horizontal responsibility for specific, organization-wide functions.

In addition to her duties as CFO and COO, Elisabeth Varn will be in charge of the product segments Women & Entertainment (including Lisa, Freizeit Revue) and Kids via the Stuttgart-based publishing house Blue Ocean.

Manuela Kampp-Wirtz will continue to head the News (e.g. Bunte and Focus) and Premium (e.g. Instyle, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle) divisions; she will also be assigned overall responsibility for Marketing, Brand Communication and Video/Audio.

Parallel to his portfolio as CEO of the digital publisher BurdaForward (e.g. Focus.de, Bunte.de and Chip.de), Oliver Eckert is assuming further executive roles at BurdaVerlag. He will head the product segments Food, Garden & Living along with Health. In addition, he will bear central responsibility for digital revenue models, Data Strategy, E-Commerce and New Business.

At the end of 2020, Burda initiated its most important restructuring program since the 1990’s: the integration of all its national publishing activities in one company. The resulting BurdaVerlag owns some 150 print and digital media products in the German market with a total monthly readership of almost 39 million people aged 14 and older.
